Christmas party preparations

What do you do when you're under a strict student budget but have nothing to wear for the many upcoming christmas parties? There's no way you could buy new dresses, not to even mention shoes or bags. But the things in your wardrobe are a bit out-dated and don't seem to be proper for any of these occasions.



The answer is simple. You call your mom, let her know about your vision on how to pimp your old dress, go to a fabrics store, get piece of this and that and let the sewing machine do the magic (under your mom's strict supervision, of course :D). Hehe.


The problem with my velvet LBD was the length. I like the dress, but apparently I was fond of shorter dresses a couple of years ago. Me and my mom made the original one from scratch and now just added two pieces of burgundy velvet - one to the top and one to the bottom of the dress. 


This dress will do for a couple of events, but luckily I have some other plans too. Mom, just wait and see ;)

    I love everything about this. First of all, that you found such a cool solution to the situation and actually created a custom-made dress for yourself - which is 100% cooler than if you bought a new fancy one, cause this one is 100% unique :D

    Second, I love velvet fabric. It's not used often but it has such a luxurious feel to it.

    Third, LBDs are a staple, but you know how I love my burgundy color!!

    Everything about this makes me happy :D

      Thanks love :) Always when I'm fixing a piece of clothing, I start thinking about ambitious DIY-projects :)) I'd love to sew clothes on my own, but it just takes time and patience and this where I really need my mom. She's a wizard with all the needles and pins and does such a neat work that nothing goes wrong. If I'd be sewing on my own, I wouldn't follow any instructions, I would just rush and probably waste all the fabric in the end :D

    You're good at drawing, so we could plan together and you could do the sketches! Then I could try to execute the plans! :)) yay! Hehe, we should also plan the brand name and look! :D
