Colored up

I've started to get bored with my usual eye makeup and I feel like I need some fresh ideas. I don't like to play with colors so I usually stick with very earthy and natural shades. I do have an eye-liner and if I feel like having some effort, I might use it, but it's a very basic thing that I do. I begin with a thin line in the inner corner of the eye and make a little thicker when I reach the outer corner. It's like a very modest version of cat eyes, I think. For going out, I use darker eyeshadow but it's always the same - gray smoky eyes - and that's it.

I would like to try something new, maybe a new color, but I'm not sure what would suit me. I've always thought that purple would be 'the color' for me if I ever decided to use any brighter-colored eyeshadow. But after randomly coming across with some pictures, I got inspired of other colors too. Maybe a darker shade of green or gold - or maybe even blue (which I've always hated) ?? Maybe I could try bolder cat eyes as well.. hmmh.

EDIT:

Which of the above colors would best cheer up the dull, usual thing?

The usual, with purple-gray eyeshadow

  1. I love the one on top right corner that combines purple and blue! Gold used to be my thing when going out (or rather a hint of gold).. And I know how you feel about blue, it can look so tacky. But actually also quite refreshing :) You should try different looks on yourself and then I can give my opinion ;)

    1. What if I show my usual, dull makeup and you say what I should try first? :D I mean, I have none of those bright-colored eyeshadows at home and as a student (with a student budget) I should invest only to those that are likely to suit me best, right? ;)

    2. Haha yeah, that wasn't maybe the smartest advice from me to try them all :D You should know that I'm a complete amateur when it comes to make up but of course I can give my opinion on what I'd prefer :)

  2. Well first of all I think your usual make up looks great :) And I think you were right about purple being your color so you could try out a brighter and stronger shade of purple! And a quite light shade of blue could really look good especially on inner part of the eyelid...This could be quite bright and "colorful" makeup and I think it would fit you well. But so do dark smoky eyes so don't forget about them! ;)

    1. Thanks, you're so sweet <3 :) I guess I could try a brighter purple makeup, it's an easy and comfy choice, since I've already gotten used to that color. In a very grayish shade, but still :)

I was thinking.. should I buy a new purple eye-liner or a new bright purple eyeshadow? Hmmh. I don't know how to bring the color in the makeup. Life is difficult :D Also, I'm very, very curious about the blue eyeshadow. I'm thinking of buying a shade that is close to the color of my eyes. The thing is, I don't know whether it's a good idea or not. I've read both go-go's and no-go's about using makeup that's the color of your eyes... Hmmh.

  3. ja niin, vastataanpa sun kysymyksen! toi sinertävä meikki vasemmassa alakulmassa näyttää hyvältä. mun mielestä on hienon näköinen ku väri silmän sisänurkasta liukuu vaaleasta tummempaan. kuitenkin aika luonnollinen eli siitä olis helppo aloittaa hehe. ja näköjään sopii sinisilmäiselle oikein hyvin :)

    1. Heh, myyrähän on tarkkasilmäisenä siellä ;) Ite mietin samaa, ku oma silmienväri on aika lähellä tota. Tossa on vaan aika erilainen toi alaloumen rajaus siitä, mitä yleensä teen, et jännä paikka sekin, jos sellasta meen kokeilee :D

  4. I really like purple. It really brings out light eyes. I think Laura is right - you can play around with different shades of purple (lighter or deeper). I would also want to see what deep rich blue would look like on you.

Speaking of golden tones, try makeup that sparkles or shines - you know not just the regular beige but a rich golden color that glitters. It can be so pretty! i used to think of any sparkles or shine as a bit tacky but with the right makeup its just the opposite!

I also like the idea of warm and cold makeup. Like rich warm tones on the eyes and a warm lipstick on the lips. (like deep golden and brown hues and then a rich blood red on the lips) and cold make up like grey, chrome, icy blue or purple on the eyes and then a light pink or cold red on the lips. This could also be a way of doing something very different!!

You can also get a blue mascara for fun and just tint your eyelashes with it. :)

one more color suggestion (and I know it sounds strange): Green. The right shade can actually look amazing. It's hard for me to find one because I have green eyes, but for bright blue eyes like yours it can be a fun experiment!! :)
